Looking for everyone that uses the PMAA Range for their training. Just want to get a list of people and talk to them about the NEW guy running the range. His name is David and he said to me "I'm not even a gun guy" He said that if things don't change (Not sure what he meant) that he will just pack up and leave. This could possibly make the range look at closing. He is increasing the range costs and requiring a deposit. Let me know who all uses this facility. Thanks and be safe.

They will never close that range. They have been through quite a few people in the last few years and I am sure that they will find someone to take the spot. The new guy isn't very impressive, and he is not the one that would be implementing the changes, It would be the cities that would have to make that call I believe. I will do a little research and see what I can find out about the changes and any insider info that I can find. It is a great range and we have put a lot of work into it (all the new gravel and berms between the ranges) and I can't believe that they would even think about closing it. B

I have not been impressed at all with this new guy. I'm just wondering if he isn't a gun guy then what is he doing running a shooting range??????? I'm wondering who made this call? Also, I have offered to help him in anyway we can and it just seems like its all a money thing with this guy. Sure, I understand increasing fees for improvements, but how he made it sound is HE wants the money for HIM. Just my opinion though. We are looking at changing facilities with this new guy running it. Does anyone have a contact number for the Police Mutual Air Association? I want to contac them and let them know why we will possibly no longer be using their facility. Thanks

I frequent the PMAA range because it is closer than the Lee Kay range and not nearly as busy. I'd be surprised if they close it because there is also a police range there.

There has been one time where I was there and no one else was there. It was during the deer hunt though so it is understandable. Even before the deer hunt it wasn't busy though. It's sad they they may have to raise the rate.

As far as Dave is concerned, yeah, he told me he wasn't much of a gun guy. I thought it a bit strange that he wasn't. He's a great talker though, quite a personable guy.

It was $5 a few of weeks ago. I don't know what memberships run. I think Lee Kay is $4 from what my brother said.

I think I might not have made myself very clear. It just seems that the fees for instructors are going to be going up. Dave is a nice guy, but I just find it weird that there is a "Non-gun" guy running the place. They can close the range to the public, I know they wouldn't close it down for LEO's. I just don't want to see another out door range get closed down.

We run Polite Society events there.

I've heard some chatter about some clubs/trainers (a minority of them) being difficult. Not being good stewards of the facility.

We have had no issues. Dave may just need to get his feet under him.

David seems to be getting a lot better up to the range and it seems like it is getting cleaned up a lot more up there. I told him that if he needed help on cleaning it up, to contact me and we would see if we could get volunteers up there to help him on a saturday. We might even foot the bill for hotdogs or something for everyone that comes up that way. He said that he is possibly going to do something in the spring. I think he is learning about how to do it and very fast. Keep it up David.

I would volunteer to go up there on a Saturday to help clean up the place. Then I would want to dirty it up again with some spent brass.

Hi, this is kinda late post.. but I just joined the forum so...

Anyway, I've been going to the PMAA since last winter. I got the one year membership so I go there as often as I can to practice. The view is nice, and I like outdoor ranges. The guy that works there is pretty nice, he gave me a warning once, 'no rapid firing', but that's alright, I guess. Really no complaints about the place for the most part. It just gets really windy there sometimes. :type:

How much was that one year membership?

I may be going up there in the morning so I guess I could ask Dave then but I will probably have forgotten by then.

It was $100 when I got it. Most likely it's still $100. Pretty good deal since I go there pretty often.. I think at doug's it's $150.

I have to say that David is doing a GREAT job at the PMAA range now. I think things will get better with even more time. He is even serving food up there now on the weekends.

I was up there sunday and bought a membership. It is still $100 and that allows me to bring a guest. Dave said he opens up for members to shoot earlier than non-members.

Dave was offering some sort of food there but I couldn't say what.
