Promoting UCC/pro-gun policy...

When I join something I usually jump in feet first and try to help out. How has others here helped promote and expand UCC? Just talking about it with co-workers and friends, talking to law enforcement officers and commercial gun dealers, etc? How do you promote UCC?

In the 2004 Presidential Election I was only 18 or so, and had never really used a gun other then at Scout Camp on the rifle range, becoming an NRA Pro-Marksman (yeah, I was proud). Anyways, my cousin described me to my parents as a "toke carrying, gun packing member of the NRA conservative" and I can see how that she wasn't far off because I'm very pro-gun. I just want to help promote public awareness of Utah gun law and other things of that nature. How would I or anyone else go about doing that? The anti-gun people sure as the heck are out there moving their policy, what about me (or us)?

Anything that you think someone could do to help promote UCC and pro-gun policy in a civil and legal manner I'd love to hear it.

One thing you can do is download this Word document and print it out on business card stock, then pass them out whenever you have an opportunity to do so. I've left stacks of them on the table outside of gun shows before.

I'd like somebody who is artsy to create a nice poster with the UCC logo (look up and left). Then we could print that out too and pin them up at gun ranges.

Of course, the UCC events garner some attention too. We ought to have our UCC poster up when we do those too.

Any other ideas?
Getting a poster/banner printed may be a good use of the funds we raised.

Jeff, I didn't see any link to the business cards.

D'oh! I had a brain sprain. It's there now. However, it's got the old logo. That document needs to be updated and spiffed up with the new logo and perhaps made to look slicker...

Volunteers?
I have the cards, I will replace the logo (since I have the editable logo) and have Bane host the file. Just give me a day or so and it will be up.

UPDATE: Just emailed them over to Bane, hopefully he will post links soon.
That's great! I'll look forward to the updated cards.
Also, I can host them where the forum software is loaded, then I'll link to it.
Ok, I forwarded the email to the UCC Admin email address for you.
If you guys ever need web space I have 3.75GB of space on my server (now that it isn't down anymore). Just let me know.
If we can host these types of files on the site server that would be best. I don't have problems with mirrors, but I think it would be best to centralize the files rather than outsource everything as it is harder to maintain. If you want to mirror the site files, perhaps Jeff could help you get that set up, I don't have access to that part of the server - I'm just a lowly mod :crying:
Here are the links for the cards...

Let me know if you have any problems getting to them -- you shouldn't though.

[thread-hijack-begin]Sorry I haven't been around lately... between work, school, yardwork, and wife-work, I've been pretty busy lately. No worries, though, I'm propagandizing wherever I can! In my Poli. Sci. class the other day we had to take the political test at the Pew Center and most of us have been labeled as 'liberals' -- the interesting part is that most of the liberals say the Pew Center 'definition' of a liberal seems wrong b/c all of us except 1 owns a gun -- including the women -- and have no regrets about it. I don't know if any carry or not, but that was encouraging to hear -- of course, I sent the 1 guy who doesn't own a gun some info. to read regarding the concepts of the polite society and the great equalizer... always trying to convert![/thread-hijack]

Anyways, I'm sure I'll be around some more once I catch up...

Looks good... Time to start passing them out.

Anyone have a LARGE Picture of the new UCC logo (something that would still look good poster sized or atleast 8X10)
By any chance for the new cards could we make a backside to them? Such as:

Something that we can write our information on them so when people do stop by they can say "Hey, this person, Dave/Outsider/UTOC/whatever, said I should stop by and what not." Also it gives an e-mail for the person to contact if they have trouble or whatever. Something like that. Just some contact information. Doesn't mean the person handing them out has to use it, but it would be nice to have it.

You can always just write that on the card now.

You must be hosting on Godaddy! I have 3 sites with Godaddy and were all down recently. I believe it was all of Godaddy because their site was down as well. :nilly:

You can always make a copy of the Word file and just replace the front card info with whatever you want on the back, then turn your paper over and print on the back side - shouldn't be too difficult.

Actually I'm with WavNetworks. I was going to go with GoDaddy.com but I hear they are down a lot more, so went with a smaller company.
The cards look very nice!
Thanks Dave!

From what I can see on the screen, however, I don't think that the URL under the UCC in the logo is legible. Might want to use the logo that we went with above.

The one that uses the URL is more suitable for larger works, such as a poster.
I have emailed Bane and Jeff the new files without the URL on the logo.

The URL is also in text next to the logo. Did someone put that one there because the one here on the website doesn't have a url on it.
