I was pulled over by a UHP several years ago. It was during the hunting season so for me that means the shotgun is with me all the time. That was the first thing he noticed in the extra cab in a soft case. He asked me if it was loaded while I was producing my license and my CFP. I told him it was legally loaded and handed him my CFP. He asked if there were other firearms so I declared my 9 MM in my waistband. He asked if it was loaded and I said yes. He asked if there was one in the chamber and I said yes. Poor kid was really freaked out at this point and walked back to his cruiser where he spent several minutes. When he returned he proceeded to tell me that only a LEO could carry a fully loaded firearm and he was letting me off the hook. It was all I could do not to laugh and I really wanted to clue him in but my judgement led me to say thank you and let him figure it out on his own.
On the other hand, every other time I have been pulled over I felt that my permit had a positive effect on the situation.
