Hi there,
Wild Cat McCane here. (grandfathers wrestling name. He held the world title weilter weight belt in 1933 until he moved into middle weight).

Born in Sandy, just graduated from the University of Utah, and own my own business in Sandy.

I am a fan of brotherhood. I was president of my fraternity at the U of U. And I enjoy the friendships found in gun forums, so I was excited to find one specifically about utah.

I am brand new to guns. Well, real ones anyways. That fraternity I was talking about? Best real life training ever. We played airsoft nearly everyday around the house. I kid you not, amazing skills are acquired when you are getting hurt by these little 6mm plastic balls. I used a Walther P99 replica, and can't wait to own a real one. Amazing ergonomics

I bought a PF9 kel tec and hated it. Couldn't hit anything, got worse results as I shot it.

So I bought a karh PM40. Dang thing is amazing. less kick then the 9mm, more accurate then imaginable. great gun.

Just trying to figure if I want to conceal for my business. I leave late at night in a grociery complex that is always closed down when I leave.

Thats me in a nutshell, hope to get to know some people around...I have a lot of questions.

Oh, and I am a full blown liberal. So, I will try to keep it interesting too. :) :nilly:

Where on the wasatch front can you shot? not like at a range, but can I just go up into the hills and shoot?

Can I go on a hike and go shooting too?

you sure you would like to open that can of worms?
:)

I would hate to get everyone to dislike me already!!! dang, man, you're killing me.

here we go.

I honestly am surprised how some gun owners believe it is their right to own certain types of fire arms.

A citizen can't own a missile for example. This all seems common sense to everyone. Kind of the same line of thought to me.

As a canidadate for student body vp at the u, no one cared about guns. No one in the media, or a single student asked about them.

Yet many gun owners think it is on our students minds. Heck no! i paid 3k every 5 months. I was concerned about passing. I was concerned about girls. I wasn't ever worried about shootings. The campus police are directly in the middle of the U of U.

As an RA in the dorms at the U of U I legally had to know if someone had a concealed gun in their room. Not a single one in 2004. Not one.

I am for guns in the class. if someone wants. but i would say that only 100 students had them out of 30,000. Mostly ROTC I assume.

I actually support a lot of it the regulations. Regulations are after all just laws and rules of conduct for a good citizen.

I still get to own a fire arm, after all, I have been a LAW abiding citizen. If someone hasn't been, good, don't let them.

having read a lot of the found fathers thoughts, I have to say most of the content is over exaggerated.

John Adams himself said that something along the lines of, thinking (longing to shoot, hunt, and fondle) a firearm is a waste of life that should go to reading the classics, in order to improve one's citizenship to their country. And he was not a gun hater. First trip to France, when an English cruiser came close to their ship, Adams was found among the marines with a rifle, ready to "do my part."

I guess you could say I agree that the best system we have seen so far is a system with two different sides competing for their opinion of right and wrong.

That way a middle tends to be most appropriate to the minority groups and everyone as a whole.

I feel that a liberal side of gun issues seems more appropriate. I mean, shot, I was even surprised how easy it was for me to by my handgun, and I am completely comfortable about someone carrying.

I am so excited to be here gents and ladies.

I look forward to contributing. I hope I am different in some of my ideas. nothing more boring them stale conversation.

To the question of an all out ban? or mag capacity? or even auto fire for that mater...

Its silly. The guns are out there already. Most gun owners already own a larger then 10 rnd mag.

I see that logic in this. At the same time? so what? Everything else is regulated. Fans of cars are not in favor of N20 being outlawed for street use. No one cares but them, yet I think the public feels safer because of it.
Discussion, continual changes to laws, all show public interests in the issues.
I do not feel molested that I can't own a full auto AR with a liberal president. I just don't.

I am just started at how many believe having a gun solves social issues. or that this is the most important issue. My bro in my fraternity went down to katrina area to help clean up with his church. THIS YEAR. He said it was unbelievable. Still appeared to be a 3rd world country. That is just insane to me.

actually it was probably just mine then.

I went through 3 packets of zoom snap caps. figuring the trigger out. I got really good at it.

Still couldn't hit anything.

Without even an effort I was hitting poa with the kahr. i don't think it was me or the trigger thanks to the snap caps.

The p99 came out with a 10 round mag.
the LE version had a 12 round mag.
Now they are at 16 rounds (using the S&W mag)

But beside the point of an intro! :)
