This bill is titled "Rights of Citizens to Carry Firearms in Declared Emergency"
My opinion is this is a law we want. We have already talked about this exact law in earlier posts but I thought I would post it again with the link to the bill text in full.
This proposed law is currently being considered by the Utah Senate. Please email your Senator and encourage them to quicly pass this into law.

I am writing to express my support for SB 157 titled "Rights of Citizens to Carry Firearms in Declared Emergency.†As recent events following Hurricane Katrina have shown, the government has at times taken legally owned firearms away from law-abiding citizens. This is absolutely inexcusable. The 2nd Amendment guarantees our right to keep and bear arms and makes no distinction about when we can do that. During a state of emergency this right becomes even more important. Criminals prey upon people during emergencies. It is intolerable for the government to prevent law-abiding citizens from their right to protect themselves, their families, or their property during declared emergencies by taking away their legally owned firearms. I would urge you to quickly pass this proposed law. Thank you.
