So I was looking at 9mm guns yesterday and I really liked how the Sig 229 felt in my hand (the 239 felt good as well). Should I be so shocked that the price on this gun was $740? Or am I just not looking in the right store?

I was quite shocked at the price and it nearly made me run out of the store and right back into the comfy hands of Glock.

It looks like an XD in 9mm would run about $500 - $550, close to retail for a Glock. I can get a Glock, though, for $400.
Nice though that the Sig has a $100 rebate. That still makes it $640.

This was my attempt to branch out and own other guns besides Glock. I know I would be happy with a G19, but I have shot Sigs and Berettas in the past and thought it would be nice to own something other than a Glock this time.

Funny how this all started with a gift of 350 rounds of 9mm.

I'm really thinking I just need to bite the bullet (no pun intended) and buy the Sig P229. Probably with the DAK trigger. I just wish the $100 rebate they offer for LE/Military would be a discount and not a check you have to wait 6 to 8 weeks to get.

I tried the P250 while at Sportsman's this week and don't like the DAO. Plus the P250 felt really weird in my hand; I can't explain it, it just did. The P229 was the right fit.
Having said that, unless I can find an incredible deal on one I think I'll stick with the G19. It's a gun I know I like and I can get it for $300 less. I'll keep the Sig on my short list though.
