It sounds to me like the mall cop and mall ninja had a standoff.

I guess the only good thing about this incident is that they used tasers instead of handguns.
Well, from a pro-gun PR perspective, that's a good thing. From a Darwinian selection perspective... ;)

I find that to be hilarious! :lolbang:  Why didn't the rent-a-cop just call someone with some real athority and wait it out? The van had a boot on it, the vehicle owner wasn't going to get very far. Sounds like they both got what was coming to them.

I was going to make a snarky comment about the gene pool but opted not to (I occasionally set aside a day to turn a kinder, gentler face to the world. Some days, due to external forces, it's difficult. :ack: ).

I'd like to know exactly how it ended.

I mean, after you both taser each other, when you're done twitching on the ground, :ack: do you wipe the drool off your cheek, pull the barbs from the other guys taser out, reel yours in, and then stumble off without another word?

:dunno:

Seems like one of those situations where it's going to be an awkward exit no matter what you do. :raisedbrow:

What would have been interesting is if the electricity caused both to tense up and hold the trigger down on both devices. They would have been laying there stiff until the batteries finally died.

Idiotic to say the least.
Besides the fact as to whether car boots are legal or illegal, IMHO, it amounts to nothing more than protected extortion.
The police ought to have been called and the situation sorted out. They could have easily figured out if the "Boot" operative was being overzealous or if he had legitimately done his job. Then it may have been removed and the tow driver cited; Or it could have gone the other way and the other individual could have been sited for harassment.
Regardless of the outcome, these boots should not be allowed. I have seen the signs of overzealous boot operatives here in Salt Lake. Usually it seems to be a problem in poorly lit lots, or poorly marked sections of lots. Some pay lots have dishonest owners too, and this helps them gain more $'s as they do share with the tow company (they get a fee for it from them). I had one try it on me until I put him in his place with an attorney.
Regardless of the situation, this was foolish all around and maybe both will learn a lesson. :dunno:
