Some of you may or may not have noticed this already... and some of you may have had more direct contact with "watchmaker" and thus might be able to correct me on this... but I suddenly realized today that, other than his 1 time initial post in the "Introduce Yourself" forum, every other thread he's ever posted has been product evaluations/marketing type of stuff. He's never once replied to anyone's comments or questions posed to him (within his own threads)... this seems a little odd to me.

Now, I could be entirely wrong, and I actually don't care whether he's "real" or not, his postings don't seem to be so massive or frequent to be causing any problems... I just thought it was odd and it seems like this isn't really a "real" person... anyone else get that feeling???

He's posting in the classifieds section, so I see no problem with it. I wish more people would post stuff there.

I don't mean to imply I have a problem with it... I'm just curious in that it doesn't seem like he's "REAL"... it seems like he might be AUTOMATED... yknow???

Actually, his first post wasn't in the Introduce Yourself section. His first post was in the classifieds section. He introduced himself only after I reminded him of the requirement to post in the Introduce Yourself section.

It appears to me that he's running a business and promoting his products. As long as he keeps that in the Classifieds section and I get no complaints about any unethical business practices, I don't care that he continues to promote products there which are related to the shooting sports.

Obviously I'm not communicating my point very well; so I'll just stop, because it really doesn't matter.

Suffice it to say that I was not intending to infer that I have a problem with what he's doing nor was I attempting to get anyone to make him stop. I'm sorry for my miscommunication.

bane, don't worry about it.

I do want to make sure that we don't get spammed. Anything that looks kind of suspicious or odd should be mentioned. If you want, you can communicate directly to the Posse.

I will say that I was a bit leery of watchmaker myself when he first posted on the flashlights without having introduced himself. It does not appear to me that he is here to participate in the forum. He appears to be here to talk about the flashlights because it is his business. It also appears that he posts exactly this same thing on many forums.

So, the instinct that induced you to start this thread was well-based.

That's why I indicated that he must keep this in the classifieds section. If there are any indications of unethical business practices, I'll ban him and delete his advertisement thread.

What I find so curious is that I haven't noticed any OBVIOUS marketing... like, telling me where to go to actually BUY these products from him... on my end I can't actually see the photos he posts, though (due to strict filtering I have set up on my network), so maybe I'm just not seeing the whole picture...

P.S.: My reason for posting regarding him wasn't so much in regards to being upset with what he's doing (I don't care if he's providing product-reviews of stuff I might be interested in and that I'm not forced to read) as much as it was b/c I just found what he's doing to be INTERESTING... in other words, I can't figure out if he's real or a script, if he's selling stuff or just reviewing products, etc... I'm just curious to understand WHAT he's doing, not that I really care THAT he's doing it. That's all this was about... CURIOSITY.
