I do like the styling on this new gun and the exapanded capacity among some of the other "improvements. I like the lower profile rear sight and rounded corners. This could be helpfull when concealing and drawing the gun, less to get snagged on. If the gun proves to be as reliable as my current XD40, I think I'd like to upgrade.

yeah, I'm pretty impressed w/ the look of it myself. I know the best think would be probably to wait and see how it works out, not ususally good to be one of the first to get a new product, but I am pretty tempted to get one ASAP

The only thing I was not extremely pleased about with my XD45 Compact was the rear sight. It is located about a half inch from the rear of the slide. I was absolutely fine with it until I shot an M&P a while back. I LOVED that the rear sight was ALL the way to the edge of the slide. I see they have remedied that little issue with the XD-M.

Gentlemen, that little beauty WILL be mine. OH YES, she WILL be mine. [buwaaahahahahahaha]

Preliminary tests show it manages recoil very well and is very accurate.
With a "match" barrel, it better be accurate!!!
Realize that there can be some creative definitions of the term "match grade barrel" so I guess it remains to be seen if real world results bear it out.

so, from what I understand, this gun was designed with use as a race gun in mind, hence the shortened trigger pull/reset and easier to reach mag release., larger capacity etc. I'm glad they are doing this. I don't know I could afford all of the modifications to my XD40 from the custom shop. I understand there may even be a magazine conversion for the 16rd mag that will allow it to become a 20rd mag.

I spoke with Gunnies in Orem, They have a two toned one in stock for $699. Maybe the solid black will be a bit cheaper.

I guess if you wanted a glock for some reason :lolbang:
While the XDM looks really pretty, I would expect that the 17L is more accurate than the XDM out of the box. As for the ergonomics and the rest of the design, I guess that just depends on the individual. The gun is pretty though, I wish the 17L had a factory two tone finish like the XDM. :gun2:

And why would that be? :dunno:

I was thinking that because (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the 17L has a longer barrel and a longer sight radius. And the 17L trigger is ~4lb while the XDM is ~7lb. :nilly:

The trigger and sight radius would only affect the shooter. Things like barrel quality, fit, and lockup would affect the accuracy. I do like a good trigger though! 8)

If someone buys the XDM, I'd love to compare how it shoots against the 17L. If it shoots better.. then well, it'd be time for me to buy another gun! :p
