I didn't see this but thought it would be good to post. This is from the LA Times about the Supreme Court ruling in favor of the second amendment, saying that Americans have the right to have a gun.

Sorry if this is a repeat but I think it is a good start from the Supreme Court.
In the above link it shows an interview from the AP from the Mayor of the District of Columbia and the Chief of Police of D.C. They said that a ban on hand-guns in DC has brought crime down. They say that because of the ban crime has gone down but that a "gun" is used in almost every crime in DC: homicide, rape, robbery, assault, etc.
Well here is a thought, if the only people with guns are the gangs in DC and the normal citizens don't have anything to protect themselves with. Seems like an uneven playing field to me.
