The 605 was my first ever handgun, I bought it around '95.
Not bad with .38 wad cutters. Tried a couple different grips to make shooting full powered .357 a little more comfortable without success.

there's something about a firearm that has limited round capacity, a somewhat non-slim build, a super short barrel, a heavy trigger pull, a double action firing mechanism, a protruding moving part that can snag on just about anything, and kicks like a mule

The auto loader is definately a preferred design, but everyone should have at least one revolver. Preferably a Ruger...or a Smith...

I guess I just wonder why people like carrying them.

I wonder too. I take mine out as a BUG every once in a while and am reminded why I don't.
They do have a more natural outline than the Brick, er, the Glock.
