Fellow UCC Members -

I am looking at getting a S&W M&P15T AR-15.

Here are the specs:

Action: Gas Operated Semi Automatic
Capacity: 30 Rounds, 5.56 mm or .223
Overall Length: 35" Extended / 32" Compacted
Stock: 6-Position Telescopic
Forend: 4-Sided, 10" Free-Float Modular Rail Forend (MRF)
Sight Length: 15"
Barrel Length: 16"
Barrel Twist: 1 in 9"
Weight (No Mag): 6.85 lbs.
Trigger Pull: 7 lbs. (approx.)
Upper/Lower Material: 7075 T6 Aluminum
Barrel Material: 4140 Steel
Chromed Components: Barrel Bore, Gas Key, Bolt Carrier
Receiver and Barrel Finish: Hard Coat Black Anodized

This would be my first AR-15. What do you guys think about that weapon, given that my primary use for it would be home defense and plinking?

LOL! That was the one I was thinking about getting! Are you talking about the one on KSL? If you get it, we can go shoot our ARs together.
Do you have a link to the M&P15T on KSL?
I couldn't find one listed when I searched there.
The one I found isn't exactly the same as the one you posted. Here is the link. And here is the picture:

They also produce the M&P AR in 5.45X39mm

Someone posted an ad for it at the Saiga-12 forum.
Here's the link if you want to see the specs ext: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?sho ... mp;+WESSON
Guys...the M&P is made with Stagg parts. About the only thing all S&W on the gun is the logo. Why not cut out the middle man and get a Stagg. One basicly like the one pictured (Sheepdog) is only about $875.
Here's a picture of the Stag Arms AR that Joseph mentioned (closest resemblance to the T-series M&P):

The MSRP on the Stag is $1125 while the MSRP on the M&P is $1754 - granted you don't pay that much, but look at the markup for the S&W name!

Thanks for pointing out the price differences GeneticsDave. I don't know about you guys but I don't want to pay an estimated $600 extra for the S&W logo on my gun.
