I was really enjoying come to this forum, but the last few days I'm not. The reason is because of the post someone made in the UCC Event forum. Mainly about not having a gun when attending an event. Myself I could give a rat's *** if you have one or not. You would be more than welcome to attend. By coming to this forum and that event shows that you are most likely getting a gun and/or permit, but when you exclude a person because of not having a gun, to me is just not right. So if you do not see me around and not posting it is because of that. I do not like being treated in that manner, or treat anyone like that.

Don't be offended away. We enjoy your input too much to have you disappear. I take online comments with a slightly larger grain of salt than I do in normal conversation because you can neither hear the inflections of the voice or see body language in order to determine a person's true intent.

Besides, I don't care what anybody says. If I want to show up to one of our meets with a frigging pistol made of toilet paper, I'm gonna do it. Who gives a crap? Just come to the meet and get to know the rest of these AWESOME folks. Don't let the comments of a single individual sway you from the other 99.9% of awesome posts and information this site has to offer.

the only such comment I can find that even comes close to this is:
Technically, I suppose you could even come unarmed. That would, however, be a social faux pas of the first order. Not recommended.
All that was implied there is why wouldn't you be carrying. Not having a gun would be a good reason in my book. My wife didnt carry when she came. Would hate to see you go over that.

Nice to hear that, we belong to another forum (Bogley) but I go by another name there, and welcome your's and other's inputs. I understand what you are saying, but a direct comment was made about, if you are not carrying, you are not in favor/welcome to be there.

I don't really care either, but when a direct comment is made it's alittle different to me, and is directed in another matter. Yes, this is an awesome place to visit and share and learn, but to exclude people because of indifference is not nice and appreciated. We all are here for the same purpose, but because someone is not in the same position at that time is just not right to exclude them.

Your contribution is appreciated here, so I'd say, just grow some thicker skin and don't let things bother you.

I'm still not sure what was said that bothers you. Was it indeed what xmirage2kx quoted? Notice the wink emoticon on that reply? That means it was meant as a joke.

I highly doubt that anybody here wants to exclude somebody from an event just because they don't have a gun yet. That'd be plain silly.

That was me, Shaolin, and it was totally a joke. I thought the winking smiley would make that clear. I apologize for making you feel in the slightest unwelcome.

Given how often guns are considered to be socially unacceptable it really struck me as funny that there might be a group in which it was a social error not to be armed. I wasn't trying to imply that it was actually the case, just that it would be funny if the group were snooty about it, which is why I used the snooty phrase "faux pas".

Please excuse my oddball sense of humor. It does get me in trouble from time to time.

Shaolin, for what it's worth, my wife will be attending the meet unarmed because she doesn't have a gun yet either. We hope that you will come too.

Also, you could just ask the server at the restaraunt for a knife. (Just kidding.)

Cool. I'm putting some more money down on my gun Fri or Sat, so in two more weeks I will have my Springfield XD. So, if the next meet is in middle March or later I will be carrying, finally. So I guess I will see you people on Saturday.

I'm going to make an effort to be there. It'll depend on whether or not I make it back from a camping trip in time.

The whole thing reminded me of an episode of The Simpsons:

"...Walking to a local N.R.A. meeting, Homer and Marge arrive at the entrance, where Lou and Eddie monitor the metal detector. Moe, Krusty, and Rainier Wolfcastle each pass through, setting off a red light on top. When Kearney walks through without setting it off, Eddie sends him back through, where Lou hands him a pistol. He carries it through, this time setting it off."

I say, ignore comments you may otherwise feel uncomfortable with. Most of us may say something on the forum in an effort to express our feelings, ideas and experience and to not only share those with others, but to get feed back as well. Heck, I know I don't always agree with some individuals here, but I have learned from them & give them respect as well. For instance I recently received nice praise for a comment from TMG, and I know he & I have had words on here before over difference of opinions. The thing is, I too have learned not to take things personally, if I did I wouldn't be here either learning or sharing and no one would be any better off. So I say again, Shaolin, stay, attend the dinner if able---loaded for bear or not--and continue to be a responsible & effective communicator on this site.

Shaolin, there it is straight from the horses mouth. When I read the comments, I immediately knew swilden was kidding (the wink emoticon was a big clue). I thought his comment was quite humorous and it made me smile.

Don't sweat stuff on these forums. Like others said, stuff often comes over different than intended on the forum so just chill.

I really resent being called a horse. My face is only vaguely horselike. I may have to delete all my posts and leave this forum.
