Why is this a hate crime? I've seen no evidence that suggests the husband was no more than a mental case who was unwilling to accept the circumstances of his break up, whether it be a man or a woman. This article as a hard liberal slant to me, and I do not care for it. Any other links to help change my mind?

I agree that I don't see this as a 'hate crime'. Sounds like a crime of passion, certainly, and an evil act, but not a hate crime.
I can see why you posted the artice, since you are quoted in it, advocating CCW for self-defense. I certainly agree with that.
