This article is headlining on the cnn website.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/02/20/cnnu.guns/index.html

Casey Matheny, from Plano, Texas, now studying at BYU, appeared indifferent to the debate over students carrying guns.

"I don't mind if they have one, I just don't want to know about it," he said.
This is such a sheep mentality. Just don't remind me there are wolves out there.

At least they are not spouting anti rubbish
Have you read the comments? I have tried posting comments 5 or 6 times and of course none of mine get selected to show. Every one keeps asking how the police are supposed to know who is the bad guy when the arive on the scene. I've tried to post that the one that puts down his gun and complies with police instruction, I certainly hope we don't have cops running into situations like this ans shooting first then asking questions later.
I read the whole thing. It's an anti-gun article in sheep's clothing. More of the same old poop we see from the media every day.

Hogwash.
Well you beat me to it! I saw this article today while surfing CNN.com at work. I was going to post it then but my work blocked me from viewing this website.

This comment REALLY irritated me...
"But you see, that is where the problem lies: Everybody will end up carrying concealed weapons, and everyday problems will be solved with guns rather than words or even fists."
ARRGH! How many concealed carry permit holders are there and how many "everyday problems" have been solved by those who carry? These people act like we're in a western movie! This comment just shows how these people will throw around words just to make their case, legitimate or not. It reminds me of a child trying to make an arguement because they haven't seen the real world yet. I wish there was a way to link this article to the CNN one so that people can read about the truth about EVERYONE carrying. I found this while surfing this forum. It's awesome and anyone I talk to who is against concealed carry, I direct them to said article. You can't argue against facts - hence article - which is why they feel the need to make stuff up I guess. :?
This was my reply that only police officers should have guns.

Now I think that most of you Anti-gun crowd need to look at the stats of law enforcement officers "snapping" and doing something that they regret. The highest rate of officer death is suicide with their own weapon. It doesn't matter what profession you are you are still human and have human emotions and as humans we make mistakes, some more than others. But if a person has made too many mistakes that are against the law will have a criminal record to reflect the many mistakes. Those are felons or wife beaters that can not own a gun legally. Even many officers lost their jobs due to the Domestic Violence law being retroactive. Just because someone is a law enforcement officer doesn’t mean he is super human with no human emotions. To quote someone in LE history, "the police are the public, and the public are the police." ~Sir Robert Peel~ Hmm isn't that interesting from London.

I carry every day everywhere (that is legal). Sometimes I carry open and sometimes I carry concealed. If that scares you then you should re think your views. In the time of slavery or in other parts of our nation some people are afraid of African Americans just because of the color of their skin. How is this any different than someone afraid of me because I chose to excursive my right to open carry? Have you ever seen a criminal open carry? (Unless they were firing) Didn't think so. I am scared of spiders so if i ever see anyone transporting their pet tarantula I will call the police and have them arrested for disturbing the peace because it scars me.

Take care and I hope you can realize that just because you feel different than I about guns and CCW that you have no right to prevent me from exercising my rights just as I don’t have the right to prevent you from not carrying a handgun. I mean it’s only fair.

Minivans scare me... So I am gonna need a lot more minutes on my cell plan.
Too funny

It makes perfect sence to me. Maybe I could get spiders banned or require strict legislagion to restrict the sale and such. I mean after all the public safety is the major concern right?
It's true. Think of the dozens of people who die from spider bite every year. We need to make spiders illegal, NOW!! "If it saves even one life...." :D

... and don't forget that the CHILDREN are even closer to those spiders...

the thing that struck me right of the bat is the title of the article "Utah students hide guns, head to class" as if they are being criminal or devious. I just thought the wording was deliberate and intended to scare people.
I'd spend some time putting down my response to this article. However, I have to go to class now, along with my gun!!!! :)
