At the entrance to every Kennecott facility there is a giant sign that says, "No firearms allowed."
I wont go to the visitors center, and I only go in the mine when I need to for work. The reason their firearms Ban annoys me are,
1. They don't search your car/truck/van/motorcycle, so any one can bring a gun in.
2. There security is unarmed.
3. It takes 15 min to get in the mine from the nearest PD so help is never near by.

My bet is that they don't want some yahoo wandering off into the hills around the mines and doing a little poaching. There are some seriously large and well-fed herds of deer and elk on their property.

I've been inside the visitors center several times while carrying concealed. I really could care less.

Someone may know better, but it seems that because of the explosives on the mine site, there may be a federal law that restricts firearms on mining property. I should know, as I worked on mine sites for several years, but was not carrying at the time, so I never checked it out.
