Only two small tweaks and Utah will have a perfect score!
Utah got two points for not forcing employers to allow guns. I think the parking lot bill may qualify, if that gets passed. We also got two points for not having a "shoot first law", but I think that's mostly an error on the Brady Bunch's part. We don't have an explicit "stand your ground law", but we do have most of the typical "castle doctrine" in our homes, and we also explicitly do not have to retreat in any place we have "entered or remained lawfully".
Maybe we should write the Brady Bunch and get them to fix the "shoot first law" score? That'd put us in a three way tie with Kentucky and Oklahoma for the lowest score. And then if the parking lot bill gets pushed through -- and if the Brady Bunch counts that on the "No Guns Allowed in Workplace" category -- then Utah would be the only state to have a perfect score!
The only thing holding OK and KY back is that they don't allow guns on university campuses. Utah's the only state that can claim that, as yet.
