Wife's First Shoot

So my wife has never fired a handgun and barely even fired a shotgun or rifle. But we went shooting this evening down at the local recreation center and put the gun in her hands. Of course we went over the basics (posture, grip, breathing, etc.) and then when I wanted her to step up she just shook her head. I went first, put 12 down range and then had her step up. Had to keep getting her grip right because she kept doing ways I had never even seen. Twice she hit the rail that held the target up and you could see down range that she kept hitting the wood that held the sand in. The rail that held the target up I looked at after the Range Safety Officer replaced it and looks like it needs a weld job. On the target you could see that the bullet had shattered and ripped up part of the target. Kinda scary. But overall she started getting the hang of it. Just need to work on her shooting up the bottom of the target and hand grip. Here are a few pictures of her:

Nice, she looks like she was having a lot of fun. That reminds me of when I took my girlfriend shooting for the first time, she was scared at first, so I started her out with a p22. She liked it and was having a really good time until she got hit in the neck with hot brass while shooting my XD (she is allergic to metal, so that made it even worse).
Our second trip went even better, we went shooting with my uncle, and she really loved shooting his hi-power. By the end of the trip she even shot his 357 mag a couple of times, but it was a bit too much for her so I don't think she will shoot it again.
Another good thing about this is that if we get married I'll buy her a gun, of her choice, and it will probably be a full size 9mm since she doesn't want a carry gun... yet.
I bought my wife a p22 because she didn't like/wasn't use to the pop of the 9mm (mill pro). She figured she would practice on the p22 and get more familiar with guns and then move onto a 9mm, but she gets excited about hitting cans or targets, it's fun to watch!
Congrats to her!

IF, being the word here. Don't waste your money unless that happens.

:thijack: My first time shooting a handgun was a few months ago. I shot just a couple times and wanted to be done. I was expecting just a little thwap, not a big boom! ( Like on 24, but I guess Jack Baue uses a silencer!!!) Anyhoo, Once my husband convinced me to try again, I ended up having a whole lot of fun. We were shooting his Glock 9mm and we had also rented adn XD. Does anyone know if the Women's shoot has already happened? Or is it still in the works?
