Is there a place (preferably locally) where we can get some youth eye/ear protection?

Took my 9 yo shooting for the first time. We broke in a youth-sized, single-shot Marlin .22. He did perfect on safety and was a little gentleman.

As you can see, adult stuff drowns him. You should see the monster glasses he has on!

I have found the cheap foam earplugs work best for kids (assuming they are old enough to keep them in) Places like cabelas make smaller/slimmer ear protection, but they are still designed for adults.

As for glasses Try getting a pair of sports/safety glasses with no prescription (like at wal-mart or an eyeglass store). they are designed to carry a prescription lens, but can be ordered without it. This is a little more $, but would fit properly

Sportsman's warehouse has a good selection of kid size protective gear.

I picked up a pir of youth for both of my kids at Sportsmans and they work great.
