With a $10,000 fine if your caught without it. Service members and law enforcement would be exempt. What a bunch of crock! There are so many things wrong with this idea. So people who wouldn't be able to afford the insurance wouldn't be able to defend themselves if need be? Next thing you know you'll have to be a 1 percenter to own/buy firearms. This crazy yahoo is just trying, amongst other things, to price people out of gun ownership. Another form of gun registration?
" The results are clear: Car fatalities have declined by 25% in the last decade, but gun fatalities continue to rise."
Umm... I'd like to know how she arrived at those #'s. Also,I love how she gives a specific percentage for car fatalities, but then just states that gun fatalities are rising... Again how and where did she get these figures?

Definitely proposed by someone in the insurance industry, their dupe, or someone that hasn't thought it through.
NO insurance company is going to make a pay out to someone that has violated the law. Pure and simple.
They will, however, be more than happy to take your money for a policy they know they will never have to pay on.

And if the gun owner HASN'T violated the law, in a reasonable world, there shouldn't be any way anyone could sue them.

Some years ago Ohio legislators fixed this with a tort reform bill that made all Ohioans that use guns for self defense rejoice even though the law never mentioned firearms and firearm usage was never mentioned when it was debated and passed.
Basically what the law says in a few very clear, understandable, sentences is that if a person is injured, killed, or otherwise harmed while in the act of violating the law they, their heirs, surviving family, or any individual or organization representing them CAN NOT sue ANYONE for that harm, death, or damage. PERIOD!
This was brought about cases like the burglar that tried to break into a fast food restaurant at night through a rooftop cooking vent and fell into a hot vat of cooking oil. He sued the restaurant AND WON!!
