Too bad it has the thumb safety. My wife wants the one without it.

The thumb safeties are very stiff, and they are out of the way. The only way to manipulate it is to try. It won't activate or deactivate while carrying. My 1911 has had the safety switch turn off while carrying it. I always carried a Shield with the safety off for years, and it never switched itself on. Having a safety on the Shield has never bothered me a bit, and I like to carry guns like Glock and Springfield Armory that don't have that thumb safety.

I agree with Snurd. The thumb safety is quite unobtrusive on the Shields and would be hard to engage/disengage without human intervention.

I'm the same; the Shields' safety is on going into the holster at the beginning of the day and on again prior to removing it from the holster at the end of the day. While carrying it's off. Personally, I wouldn't discount a well-priced Shield if it had the safety, but that's just me.

I'm glad it sold so quickly. The last one I sold took three weeks to sell.
