KSL article: Districts can't ask which teachers carry

Postby bagpiper » Tue 20 Oct 2015 8:48 am

KSL is running an article today about the fact that in Utah school districts cannot even ask which teachers are carrying guns pursuant to a permit to carry. The article is actually pretty even handed.

It includes a poll at the bottom about how you feel about teachers being armed. They've provided three choices with the following results currently:

Concerned, Guns don't belong: 12% 517 votes
Comforted, Armed teachers provide some extra protections: 81% 3598 votes
Indifferent, I don't care either way: 7% 325 votes

It would be nice to push this one to over 90% who don't oppose armed teachers.

I thought the article was factual and neutral as well, a pleasant surprise. I cast my vote of comfort.

No one should make decisions for us when it comes to guns and gun carry. If we do things we're not comfortable with because someone told us it's 'right' it becomes a distraction in an event where clarity and simplicity is needed.

If you go to the age breakdown of those that voted, it is telling how the very young kids want their teachers armed....100% of those (14 that voted) under the age of 18, would feel comforted knowing they are not sitting ducks.
If you consider yourself an American, and are not yet on a government watchlist...You're Not Trying.

Poll is still alive. Accepted my input. Special lead dispensers in the hands of the lawful is always comforting!
