I'm not sure whether the following news item belongs in this forum, but there it is.

The Treasury Department plans to announce Wednesday that the new $20 bill will feature abolitionist Harriet Tubman, replacing former President Andrew Jackson.

A Treasury official confirmed the planned announcement to Fox Business Network. It would make Tubman the first woman on U.S. paper currency in 100 years.

The new designs, from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, would be made public in 2020 in time for the centennial of woman’s suffrage and the 19th Amendment to the Constitution. None of the bills, including a new $5 note, would reach circulation until the next decade.

One wonders how the politically correct brigades will react once it dawns on them that Harriet Tubman was a gun-toting Republican who battled the eeevil Democrats with their Negro disarmament laws and outright slavery of the great majority of blacks within the borders of the Old South.

[UPDATE]: Hah-hah, even Iowahawk has gotten into the act with a cool picture to go with the snark:

[UPDATE]: National Review has a nice treatment of this "black, Republican, gun-toting[,] veterans’ activist[,] with ninja-like spy skills and strong Christian beliefs."

Sadly, history only matters to those who know it and are half way honest about it.

For the ignorant, or those who happily re-write history for their own ends, real history doesn't matter.

How many off this list will ever know about Tubman's affinity for guns? But I do appreciate you posting it. I learned something new today. Thanks
