CRKT M16 with Tanto blade. Awesome little nice that is easy to open, durable and cheap enough that if I loose it I don't cry. The smaller one is: 3.00" blade .12" thick, 4.25" closed, 3.6oz. The flipper makes it really easy to open. Closing it one handed takes a little practice due to the auto-lock on the blade but is doable. They retail around $50. A few months back Big5 had them for $15. This is the one I bought: CRKT M16

In my opinion, the most important things about a knife are the same as the most important things about selecting a gun:

It has to be comfortable in YOUR hand.
It has to be easy for YOU to operate.
It has to be something that YOU like.

Go to a knife store and try a few out with a few different mechanisms, designs, and features and find what you like best.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding something "decent" in your budget, and something pretty-darned-good for just a few bucks more. Lots of good knives in the $75-$100 range, and some even below that.

Anybody got a SOG? I like that assisted opening deal. Here's the one I'm looking at (the Aegis)

I haven't tried one, but they look pretty slick. I wouldn't mind getting one. Amazon has some decent prices on them as well. I think I would either get the satin, or the black TiNi. Amazon.com

Jeesh, I'd buy through Amazon, there is no way I could come up with that price--I would make nothing for my efforts as that would at least be my cost. No way to compete with that!
That is probably the best tip I could give and that hurts to say as I know my prices are fair.

I am a big Kershaw fan because I love the assisted opening and how slim some of their knifes are, my current daily carry is the composite leek. I used to have a random leek (lost it rabbit hunting) and they are amazing knives although I don't like serrations so I wish I could have found the random task at the time. Here are some on ebay for around $50:

There is also a seller on bladeforums named Kershawguy who sells factory seconds (cosmetically blemished knifes) for pretty decent prices. I have bought for him twice with good results.

I have that SOG Aegis on order.
Cinhil, if I wasn't 100 miles away I would have been to see you!

That's ok, I understand. In future though, remember I can drop ship right to you--you could send a check then and not worry about the drive. I am sure you got the best deal you could get, and it is a sweet knife--congrats! :dancing:
