my two favorite knives:

I carry a Cold Steel recon 1 with a tanto serrated blade

I aslo carry a ka bar TDI (made for LEO's) on my off hand side I highly recommend this knife it is made for extreme close quarters protection against some one trying to take your firearm or you cant get to your gun for some reason. it draws like a pistol, it is a small knife but does the trick
comfortable to wear.

Left pocket, a S&W .38 Special 638 Bodyguard. The right pocket? Either a Spyderco Tenacious or a Buck Rush.

What type of blade makes a good utility knife?
It's not so much that the gun does or doesn't do what it's supposed to, it's simply not running anymore. So if it doesn't run, what I do is sort of wang on it until it does.

I am a bit partial to my cold steel 6-inch master tanto. Hey I am a big fat man I can conceal carry quite a bit. The Kershaw Military boot knife is also nice. I would love to own an Cold Steel Tai Pan To tell the truth I am better trained with a knives and swords than with a gun. Like my handle didn’t give that away.

For general-purpose cutting I have a verity of smaller knives to fit that bill. Which one I carry depends on my mood and more likely what I can find.

I think that before I get flooded with messages stating that I shouldn't carry a knife to a gunfight I don't. I have an xd or a .327 that I carry as well. Of course some people could argue at less than ten feet (the distance most fights start) a knife in the hands of someone who know how to use it is just as dangerous if not more so as a gun. I am just saying don't discount the knife just because it is not a gun. Men have been fighting with edged weapons long before firearms.

That may be true but I can't think of anything i'd rather avoid then getting in a knife fight with someone.
