Xrays

Does anyone know anybody that does xrays on guns? My boss' son has an old black powder shotgun that belonged to his grandpa. We are going to South Dakota on a pheasant hunt next year and he want to use it to take a bird and retire the gun incorporated into a mount with the old shotgun.

When you say X-ray are you talking about metallurgy testing the firearm to ensure structural safety?

Well Snaggle that is a pretty big word and I have no idea what it means but putting it into the context of the rest of the question I would say yes that it what I am looking for. :D

Metallurgy is just science talk for the study of metals properties.

I dont know that I would personally go to the extent of imaging like that, but I imagine most any machine shop could do a dye test or mag test to check the integrity of the metal if necessary.

If I was worried about it I would take it to a respected gun smith... Prob crusader smitty; and have them look it over.
