M&P 15-22

Postby dougtee » Wed 27 Jul 2016 5:27 pm

I posted that I have a Remington 552 that FTF's and was seeking suggestions. Since I got this I'm in no hurry to get it fixed. This only has 300 rounds through it but not a single problem. I could almost cover a 25 yd. group with a dime, just using my range bag for support. This is a keeper.

 Good looking gun. My wife has one as well, and we enjoy shooting it.

The Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 is a great rifle. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours. It'll serve you well for a long time.

I've got it along with it's big brother. Both are decked out identically (Wilson Combat triggers, Leupold XV-R Patrol scopes, etc., etc.) for interchangeability and consistency. I've probably put well over 10k rounds through the M&P 15-22, maybe even closer to 15k given my wife uses it as well, and still running just as strong as the day I bought it without any issues.

We haven't shot ours a ton, but we usually just shoot the bulk box ammo. It has run just fine with that. We haven't put any Mini Mags through it at all.

Prior to the upgrade to the Wilson Combat TR-TTU trigger I could cycle just about anything through it. It's a little fussier now as the TR-TTU requires at least high velocity rounds to function at its best (I can vouch for that to be the case). So, I shoot almost exclusively the CCI AR Tactical 22LR High Velocity Copper Coated RN 40 and have had zero issues with it. According to CCI's website the AR Tactical round was specifically tested with the S&W M&P 15-22 in mind. I've tried other higher velocity brands but CCI has proven to be the most consistent and reliable for me in my M&P 15-22.

Prior to the trigger upgrade about the only round I had issues with was Remington's 22 Golden Bullet. If you're a fan of practicing malfunction drills that's the go-to ammo. :(
